DC Breast Cancer Awareness Events and more hit the District this Spring

Washington, DC— Now that spring is finally upon us, let the springtime celebrations begin! If you are looking for things to do this spring look no further as DC is filled with fun events. With the Cherry Blossoms in full force, DC Breast Cancer Awareness walks and Pink and Drink coming to the District, there’s a little something for everyone.

Each year, the National Cherry Blossom Festival starts off spring in DC. This annual city-wide event features more than 200 international cultural performances and over 90 other specials events. The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade on April 13th is arguably the most popular event in the culmination of the three-week-long festival. You can expect to see floats, giant helium balloons, and live musical performances. Make sure to arrive early to get a good spot on the parade route!

April ends strong as Pink and Drink, “the nation’s largest pink crawl”, makes its way to DC on Saturday, April 27th 2013. Gather your best pink outfit and storm Dupont Circle with thousands of DC breast cancer awareness supporters and help raise money for the fight against breast cancer. Come solo or join forces with a group of friends, and get ready for bar specials, raffles and amazing prizes. Grab your friends (21+ of course) and join the cause and bar hop to some of the best bars DC has to offer.

Which St. Patrick’s Day DC Event are you looking forward to?

St. Patrick’s Day— the time of year when lads and lasses deck themselves in green and dance Irish jigs in the street while toasting to the luck of the Irish. St. Patrick’s Day this year falls on Sunday, March 17th, which means a month full of carousing and cheers-ing. If you are asking yourself, which St. Patrick’s Day DC event to hit up, we have you covered! The DMV will be hopping with Irish cheer all throughout March. From bar parties, to DC bar crawls, to festivals, there’s a little something for everyone.

The month of March kicks off with the Leprechaun Lap on March 2, 2013. This annual St. Patrick’s Day DC bar crawl will start off at Mackey’s Public House and continue through Dupont Circle. As excited as you might be to put on your St. Paddy’s day costume early, it may be worth waiting a week for the 3rd Annual Green Beer Day at Public Bar instead.

Cupid’s Bar Crawl 2013 is almost here!

Valentine’s Day seems to be one of those times of the year that really sneaks up on us. Hours before the big day you’ll see guys scrambling at the jewelry stores or feverishly refreshing OpenTable in hopes that the restaurant booked up three months ago magically has an opening. You will also find women talking about how many gifts she will be receiving from her special someone, when in reality she’s hoping her boyfriend doesn’t forget Valentine’s Day. The result for both men and women is panic!

So as many single and non-singles alike quiver at the thought of Valentine’s day, this writer can give you a positive light on a time of year you really should be excited for. And no, I don’t have a secret reservation hotline, but I can suggest an alternative event that will offer a little something for everyone — Cupid’s Bar Crawl 2013!

When you think of February or Valentine’s Day you may not think a pub crawl, but you should! Project DC Events’ Cupid’s Bar Crawl will take place on Saturday, February 9th in DuPont Circle. An event ticket gets you a souvenir mug, Valentine’s Day/Mardi Gras signature beads, access to some of DC’s finest bars, exclusive drink and food specials, and a raffle entry to win some great prizes. Cocktails for a Cause in Clarendon

When the tragic shootings happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, I was instantly affected. As a Virginia Tech alum, who was a student during our own tragedy, I know how hard it is for a community to overcome such a horrendous event. It was the outpour of support from people around the world which helped us cope and heal. I knew instantly I wanted to help Sandy Hook in some way, any way possible.

Teaming up with Project DC Events, we were able to put on a great event! Over 100 people came to support The Sandy Hook Fundraiser at SoBe in Clarendon on Wednesday, January 9th for a fundraiser happy hour to support the Sandy Hook School Support Fund. A $10 donation gave supporters a wristband for delicious food and drink specials. DJ Antonio Ernesto kept the party going all night long with great music and atmosphere. People danced, mingled, and left feeling good about the night and their contribution!

We raised nearly $1,300 in just a few hours and were featured on ABC 7 news! Project DC Events proved that while they do a great job of putting together awesome events and bar crawls, they also have a knack for bringing people together for a great cause! Thanks to everyone who came out and donated!
